There is an emergency ...

Not easy to animate a "blog" when you are lost in the bush as we are .... Sorry if you miss it, but that's more than a month that we have set foot in town and unfortunately it is not of additional customers, the cause of this situation.
Dilemma of talking about this in the blog but how quiet such news?
We have just suffered the loss of two village guards, killed during an incursion of a band of armed horsemen from Chad to "do" for ivory in the confines of North Park ...
The phenomenon responsible for the deaths of thousands of elephants in Chad is happening here, certainly because Chad has responded with the necessary vigor in recent months ... Cameroon on it you will much?
There is an emergency ...
For us here after years of effort, sacrifice on the part of all the field and despite the successes, the confusion is immense. The validity of our presence is questioned.
Needless to say the mood that prevails, but what to do, only the face of such adversity?
Only the creation of the Bi National SénaOura Boubandjida allows some hope, yet it should be as concrete acts quickly installed.

Meanwhile the hot season has set in, although early there ...
In terms of wildlife, comments are waiting for you. The strong growth Panthers observation is still valid, and giraffes are waiting for you also. We now have an elephant "mascot" at the camp, who visits us very often ... and begin to hurt all of our trees!

At the beginning of March we proposed a small first aid and self defense training to the guards who found it very useful.
To all who have an idea to restore our faith and the necessary pep to continue, thank you to wave!

Thank you all for following us and soon ...

Good luck to the team, must be! Poaching is a global problem and is not limited to Boubandjida ... just see what happens in Kruger or Masai Mara to be convinced.
Do not despair. I suggest you reread the first lines of your blog in 2006 as a Long Way!, Increase wildlife, tourism, infrastructure improvements ..... ect ...
Finally you will not give up when I have not had the opportunity to come and enjoy your lodge!

    With all my support
    Bertrand

    Hello,

Keep hope and courage, we need your help to preserve this beautiful place.
I know a little corner, I also had to deal with poachers nearly 20 years ago and my guide told me already her despair. But thanks to people like you and your team I hope to return soon with my family to make him feel what I experienced at the time: the bush, animals, people, light, odors ...
There will be better days, it is Africa ...

Hang in there, you have already done much and Cameroon needs you.

    See you soon.

    hello friends,
we enjoy your wonderful site for you to say hello. We have friends who are in Nigeria who would like to come to Cameroon. I have sent your site. It's so well done that they will surely come! Our réacclimatation was longer than expected and Cameroon remains firmly rooted in all of us. Last year this time there, we were still at home! Stayed there for a wonderful time (The jam I miss Mai! I still have the mouth water ...) We think of your own. Good luck. Clochards'family

Hello! We are the friends of Nigeria and Anne-France has been right to give us your contact information: your site makes me want to jump on a plane and come to taste the bush which is so lacking in Lagos ...!

We hope to visit family (attention, we are many!) Very soon and spend good time that we promised Anne-France!!

  5. Dear Paul and Mai,
there is barely a month, we savored our short stay in Bouba N'djida well ... It's been heartbreaking to deplore all these findings in terms of poaching .... We remain convinced that with still all your effort and energy, Bouba N'Djida resume "hair of the beast"!
Anyway, we keep excellent memories of your home! I will not dwell on the talents of Mai in cuisine! In short, ... it's good, we are still in Cameroon for two years ... why not go back!?
Good luck, we are wholeheartedly with you!

At all retirees rested and healthy, not looking on comfort nor life expectancy :) Come lend a hand in the anti-poacher, of one form or another, ... necessary training, radio remote means,
we take our aircraft or microlight (for night flying), we identify with the hordes of gps Bracos (often heavily armed and on horseback ...), especially if they are retired, during the flyby, Chad side, and the track distance ...; Flying zigzag, c is best for the future .... c is not just words, I expect the volunteers, the real .. Thank you

  8. Hi Paul, Hi May,

I actually wanted to write for ages to tell you again thank you very much for everything you did for us. You helped us so altruistic in a somewhat delicate. In truth it was a crazy idea to arrive at camp in Chinese motorcycle which I begin to realize ...
I consider it a friendly gesture contributing to the Franco-German friendship :) we had spent a very enjoyable stay at your camp, we had some moments and I'll keep a pleasant memory of this holiday. I will never forget the first cold beer after arriving on a motorcycle and not spoiled frog legs (always a story I like to tell), all this in the bush! Indeed I find amazing what you had created and built in Cameroon. This is a beautiful camp run by nice people and I hope to come back after my studies.

    Good luck!
